Who we are
This policy is published by Vael AI PTY LTD (ACN 689 675 527, ABN 74 689 675 527), an Australian company based at Level 1, 63-73 Ann Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010. You can reach us at admin@vaelai.com.au.
We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, the same standards that apply to larger Australian companies.
What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website (vaelai.com.au) and through our marketing, including our contact form, our advertising on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and website analytics.
It does not cover personal information handled through the Vael monitoring platform on behalf of customers, things like camera footage and event data. That handling is governed by the services agreement between Vael AI and the customer. If you're a Vael customer, or you work at a monitored site, the services agreement is the document to read.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you fill in our contact form, we collect the details you type in: your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, the kind of organisation you're with, the number of cameras and sites you're asking about, and your message. If you tell us which monitoring software you use and how many operators you have, we collect that too. Please don't include sensitive personal information in your message. We don't need it to quote you.
We collect the same kind of information if you respond to one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram and submit a lead form. The details you enter go to Meta first, and Meta passes them to us so we can get in touch.
You can browse this site, and ask us general questions, without identifying yourself, but preparing a quote does need your contact details.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and general device and browser information. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects your IP address. We don't use it to identify individual visitors.
We also use Cloudflare Turnstile on our contact form to tell people apart from bots. It checks things like your browser and how you interact with the page.
We don't currently run advertising trackers or pixels on this website.
How we use it
We use the information above to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote
- follow up with you about that enquiry, by email or phone
- run, secure and improve this website
- understand whether our marketing is working
That's the list. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with third parties so they can market to you.
Who contacts you
If you enquire, someone from the Vael AI team will reply from an @vaelai.com.au email address, or call the number you provided. We'll only contact you about your enquiry. We don't add enquirers to newsletters or marketing lists. If we ever offer something like that, we'll ask you first.
Overseas processing
Some of these providers process information outside Australia: Google and Meta primarily in the United States and Ireland, and Cloudflare through its global network. If you submit a lead form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta handles your details under its own privacy policy before passing them to us. We take reasonable steps to work with reputable providers that handle information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we can't guarantee that overseas providers are subject to privacy laws equivalent to Australia's.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records while we need them for the purpose we collected them (responding to you and preparing your quote) and to meet legal and record-keeping obligations, then destroy or de-identify them. You can ask us to delete your enquiry details at any time, and we will unless we're required to keep them. If you become a customer, your details are kept under the services agreement. Website analytics data is kept only as long as needed to understand how the site is used.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though the contact form's bot check may need to verify you again. We don't currently use advertising or retargeting cookies. If we add advertising measurement in future (for example, the Meta Pixel), we'll update this policy.
Advertising
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. If you submit one of our lead forms there, Meta collects the details you enter and shares them with us, as described above. We may also use Meta's tools to measure how our ads perform and to show ads to people who have visited our website or enquired before. Tools like these use cookies and similar technologies, and any matching is done by Meta under its own policies.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- stop contacting you: say the word and we'll stop
- show you the personal information we hold about you
- correct it if it's wrong
- delete it, unless we need to keep it for a legal or dispute-related reason
Email admin@vaelai.com.au with any of these requests. We may need to verify who you are first. There's no charge, and we'll act within a reasonable time.
If something goes wrong
If you think we've mishandled your information, email us first (admin@vaelai.com.au) and tell us what happened. We'll acknowledge your complaint, investigate, and respond to you. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can also raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
If we ever suffer a data breach involving your information that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you about it and what we're doing in response.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. Access to enquiry details is limited to the people who need them to respond to you. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security, but protecting your information is something we take seriously.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website or marketing changes. The current version is always on this page, with the effective date below.
